The Red River Community Centre is a 11,270 SF building designed in collaboration with the City of Winnipeg and the Red River Community Association. It was designed to be a sustainable community centre respecting a tight budget. The new facility incorporates passive day lighting strategies together with energy efficient features to bring relatively low operational costs to the community operated multi-use four-season facility. A sunlit gymnasium, multi-purpose space and high sun tower at the entry all serve to bring as much natural light into the public spaces as possible. Wood benches along the main hallways, which serve the community using this rink, compliment durable skate flooring throughout and generous change rooms. Large glazing walls with views to the outdoor rinks serve as eyes on the community providing a safe, integrated place for families.
